March Recognitions

Emmanuel is in his 2nd season reffing in the recreational basketball league at the Y. He has done an exceptional job helping supervise and referee one of the toughest sports programs that we offer. Emmanuel helps kids learn the game of basketball on Saturdays and is a great mediator with coaches and parents. It’s not easy to wake up early on Saturdays to ref 7 games back to back while managing many differing expectations and opinions, but he has done so and done so professionally. Emmanuel also helps monitor the gym during one of its most hectic times, often having to stay until 8PM to ensure that members and guests are maintaining a safe environment. Emmanuel is a great asset to our Y community!

Cindy is a ray of sunshine that walks through the front doors when the Y opens every morning. She always has a warm smile for fellow members and staff alike. She is very welcoming to new members and encouraging to all. Cindy is a valuable member of the early morning community here at the YMCA and a wonderful friend to many.

Richard has painted the pool windows at the Y with the help of his wife Maria for over 12 years. They help keep the Y looking festive and fun! Though Richard has never taken art lessons, he has enjoyed drawing since he was a child. The delight on the faces of young and old as well as the encouraging comments have made this a labor of love for Richard and Maria. When people have said the paintings brighten their day, he and Maria both cannot help but smile. Richard is the father of 4 children and the grandfather of 6. He has been an independent insurance agent for about 28 years. From 1992-2011 he was also the pastor of a small local church east of town. His personal exercise passion is cycling and he plans an extended ride of the Mikelson Trail in South Dakota this summer. We are so lucky to have such committed and caring volunteers. Thank you Richard and Maria for all you do to make the Y great!
