After School PRIME TIME Registration

When school is not in session, it’s the PRIME TIME to get kids moving, healthy and having a blast! Noble PRIME TIME is a DHS-licensed program that offers a safe, active and friendly atmosphere for children after school. Kids socialize, play games, read, do homework, play outdoors, build character and make friends! Snacks & transportation are included at a great price so that every child in the community can attend.

$30 registration Fee for all students

Homeschool P.E. is a fitness class designed specifically for children ages 5 to 12 who learn at home. Children who participate in Home School P. E. will play games, do creative and challenging activities and get fit while having fun as they grow in spirit, mind and body. 

Encourage your children to have an active lifestyle through physical fitness. Enroll your children at the Member Information Center. 

When

Our Homeschool P.E. Program follows the NPS Schedule. It runs August 20 - May 23.

Class starts at 12:45 PM and ends at 1:45 PM.

School's Out Camp

Empowering our Youth Through Fun & Recreation

This program devotes an entire day to fun and recreation when children have entire days off school. Any students enrolled in Norman Public Schools kindergarten and up and current pre-k-plus students are welcome. The dates available correspond with most non-school days. Camp is from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM with scheduled activities from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Activities include: theme days, crafts, swimming and field trips. Campers only need a sack lunch, swimsuit and towel. We take care of the rest!

The Y uses volunteer coaches to provide leadership to the community through structured athletics activities. If you are interested in coaching, we would certainly appreciate your help!

JERSEYS

Our Sports Jerseys are multi-purpose. They can be worn for any sport/fitness team or group that the Y has to offer. You can purchase them at the Member Information Center for $16.

In this group you will burn calories, improve strength, increase your muscle and train for upcoming races.

Join us, Starting January 5 for our first group run but if you can’t make it we hope to see you at the next one. We will run every Saturday morning at 8:00 AM until Saturday, April 20. The OKC Memorial Marathon with take place on Sunday, April 28.

Healthy Heart Month

HEALTHY HEART MONTH

It's time to take stock of what you can do to improve your health, especially your heart health.

CHALLENGE

Registration for this challenge is now open. You must register at the Member Information Center to be eligible to compete.

Join this month-long incentive program and let the Y help you achieve and maintain a HEALTHY HEART. This challenge is open to all Y members at any fitness level and any age. You'll receive fitness tips and diet tips to take care of your heart.

The challenge starts February 1 and runs until February 28. Pick up your HHM checklist at the Member Information Center at registration. Turn your completed checklist into the Member Information Center by February 28 to receive your FREE Healthy Heart Month shirt!

CHALLENGE TIPS

EXERCISE

First and foremost, if you want your heart to be strong, it's imperative you get the right amount of exercise.

AEROBIC ACTIVITY

Walking, jogging, bicycling or cross-country skiing

are all great ways to strengthen your heart. Aim for

at least 30 minutes of these activities, four times

per week. But be sure to talk to your doctor

before starting a new exercise program.

DIET

Don’t forget how important your diet is in maintaining a healthy heart. Fruits and vegetables are key — these are great sources of fiber. Most of us just don’t get enough fiber in our diets.

Weekend Warrior Lifeguard Certification V6

This course prepares participants with the knowledge and skills needed to be a lifeguard in various environments. This certification offers information on how to guard, anticipate and prevent problems and take action to help those in danger. It covers safety skills such as spinal injury management, weather, water dangers, legal responsibilities, pool management and information on how to obtain employment as a lifeguard.

WHEN

Sunday, Feb 3: 12:00 PM - 7:00 PM

COST: $270

Includes: Lifeguard Book, CPR/BLS, First Aid, Administering Oxygen and Lifeguard Certifications. Safety courses are included in the fee and will be held the first day of class.

Contact Stephanie Settle prior to registering for more information about the pre-work and pre-requisite requirements. Registration must be received 5 days prior to the first course due to online pre-course work.

100% attendance is required and participants must pre-register. Payment must be made prior to first day of class. There will not be any refunds given after attending the first day of class. Participants must be at least 16 years old by the last class day.

Accommodations on the basis of disability are available by contacting Stephanie Settle at least 2 days prior to class

  • Minimum age of 16 by the last day of scheduled course

  • Complete the Physical Competency Requirements and rescue skills

We've recently acquired 10 acres of land at Lake Thunderbird in Norman for use during our Summer Day Camp, Schools Out Camp and Special Events! It is the perfect opportunity for your children to have the BEST SUMMER EVER!

WHEN

Camp starts in May and ends in August

Daily Duration is 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM

Campers will need to bring a sack lunch, water bottle, sunscreen, swim suit & towel.

Lifeguard Certification V6

This course prepares participants with the knowledge and skills needed to be a lifeguard in various environments. This certification offers information on how to guard, anticipate and prevent problems and take action to help those in danger. It covers safety skills such as spinal injury management, weather, water dangers, legal responsibilities, pool management and information on how to obtain employment as a lifeguard.

WHEN

February 18-22, 5:00 PM - 10:00 PM

COST: $270

Includes: Lifeguard Book, CPR/BLS, First Aid, Administering Oxygen and Lifeguard Certifications. Safety courses are included in the fee and will be held the first day of class.

YASA Certification V6: Y Aquatic Safety Assistants

This course presents the knowledge and skills needed to both help prevent and recognize aquatic risks and to assist a lifeguard in the emergency response to an accident and injury. This basic aquatic safety course is highly recommended for fitness instructors and back yard pool owners. Participants will also be certified in American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) courses: CPR BLS, Basic First Aid and Emergency Oxygen Administration upon successful completion of this course. If you would also like to receive Lifeguard Certification after you have received YASA Certification, you will only have to take a portion of the Lifeguard Certification course.

  • Complete the Adult Learning Concepts Online Training on yexchange.org.

This course prepares participants with the knowledge and skills needed to be a lifeguard in various environments. This certification offers information on how to guard, anticipate and prevent problems and take action to help those in danger. It covers safety skills such as spinal injury management, weather, water dangers, legal responsibilities, pool management and information on how to obtain employment as a lifeguard.

WHEN

April 15-19, 5:00 PM - 10:00 PM

COST: $270

Includes: Lifeguard Book, CPR/BLS, First Aid, Administering Oxygen and Lifeguard Certifications. Safety courses are included in the fee and will be held the first day of class.

Contact Stephanie Settle prior to registering for more information about the pre-work and pre-requisite requirements. Registration must be received 5 days prior to the first course due to online pre-course work.

100% attendance is required and participants must pre-register. Payment must be made prior to first day of class. There will not be any refunds given after attending the first day of class. Participants must be at least 16 years old by the last class day.

School's Out Camp

Empowering Our Youth Through Fun & Recreation

This program devotes an entire day of fun and recreation when children have scheduled days off of school. Any students enrolled in Pre-K Plus or Norman Public Schools Kindergarten and up are welcome. The dates available correspond with most non-school days. 

Camp is from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM with scheduled activities from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Activities include theme days, crafts, swimming, and field trips. Campers only need a sack lunch, swimsuit and towel. We take care of the rest!

Register at the Member Information Center Today! A $30 registration fee & current immunization records are due at registration.

This 27 hours course provides necessary training and information for participants to certify YMCA lifeguards and YMCA Aquatic Safety Assistants (YASA.)

PREREQUISITES

  • Minimum age of 18 by the last day of the scheduled course

  • All candidates must show proof; “a letter” from a sponsoring YMCA to take the course. Send the letter to settle@ymcanorman.org 5 days in advance.

  • Complete the Online Orientation Training on yexchange.org. Cost $20 (non-refundable)

  • Complete the Adult Learning Concepts Online Training on yexchange.org.

    Cost $20 (non-refundable)

  • Hold Current YMCA Lifeguard certification

  • Hold Current CPR Pro, First Aid and Emergency Oxygen Certification

  • Complete the Physical Competency Requirements and rescue skills

  • Complete the Y Lifeguard eLearning courses found on http://training.ymca.net/lifeguard

*Instructor crossover candidates need to complete the ASHI CPR BLS, Basic First Aid and Emergency Oxygen Administration. YASA Certification V6: Y Aquatic Safety Assistants

This course presents the knowledge and skills needed to both help prevent and recognize aquatic risks and to assist a lifeguard in the emergency response to an accident and injury. This basic aquatic safety course is highly recommended for fitness instructors and back yard pool owners. Participants will also be certified in American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) courses: CPR BLS, Basic First Aid and Emergency Oxygen Administration upon successful completion of this course. If you would also like to receive Lifeguard Certification after you have received YASA Certification, you will only have to take a portion of the Lifeguard Certification course.

WHO

  • Complete the Online Orientation Training on yexchange.org. Cost $20 (non-refundable)

  • Complete the Adult Learning Concepts Online Training on yexchange.org.

YASA Certification V6: Y Aquatic Safety Assistants

This course presents the knowledge and skills needed to both help prevent and recognize aquatic risks and to assist a lifeguard in the emergency response to an accident and injury. This basic aquatic safety course is highly recommended for fitness instructors and back yard pool owners. Participants will also be certified in American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) courses: CPR BLS, Basic First Aid and Emergency Oxygen Administration upon successful completion of this course. If you would also like to receive Lifeguard Certification after you have received YASA Certification, you will only have to take a portion of the Lifeguard Certification course.

WHO

Ages 14 and older who meet course pre-requisites. Accommodations on the bases of disability are available by contacting Stephanie Settle, 3 days prior to class.

YASA Certification V6: Y Aquatic Safety Assistants

This course presents the knowledge and skills needed to both help prevent and recognize aquatic risks and to assist a lifeguard in the emergency response to an accident and injury. This basic aquatic safety course is highly recommended for fitness instructors and back yard pool owners. Participants will also be certified in American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) courses: CPR BLS, Basic First Aid and Emergency Oxygen Administration upon successful completion of this course. If you would also like to receive Lifeguard Certification after you have received YASA Certification, you will only have to take a portion of the Lifeguard Certification course.

WHO

Empowering Our Youth Through Fun & Recreation

This program devotes an entire day of fun and recreation when children have scheduled days off of school. Any students enrolled in Pre-K Plus or Norman Public Schools Kindergarten and up are welcome. The dates available correspond with most non-school days. 

Camp is from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM with scheduled activities from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Activities include theme days, crafts, swimming, and field trips. Campers only need a sack lunch, swimsuit and towel. We take care of the rest!

SESSION 2: AMAZING ANIMALS

It's a zoo in here! This is a unit sure to delight kids who love creatures. We'll build models of snakes, insects, mammals and more. Each week we'll discuss fascinating facts about the animals we build, from the chameleon that changes colors to the seal model that waddles across the table. Students will love these moving models that celebrate the wonders of the animal kingdom.


RATES & REGISTRATION

Session 2: $70 for 7 weeks

Billed $10/week added to your weekly draft

REFUND POLICY
Refunds will not be issued for non-attendance at a scheduled class.

MAKE-UP CLASSES & TRANSFER POLICY
Make up classes & transfers will be accommodated as long as there is room in the class.

If you like to design, imagine and create then come to the Y for a Girls Night Art! We are offering an arts and crafts night for girls in the community. You do not have to be a Y member to come and enjoy the festivities, so tell your friends and don't miss out! We will be supplying the art supplies and snacks.

This FREE event will happen select Fridays while school is in session, but we need to know you are coming, so please RSVP here.

This is a mother-daughter event!

YMCA Aquatic Safety Assistant (YASA)

This course teaches the skills needed to help prevent and recognize aquatic risks and to assist lifeguards in emergencies. This does not provide lifeguard training; a certified lifeguard must be on duty when teaching a class. Participants must be 14 years or older and 100% attendance is required. Participants must also preregister 5 days prior to course. Safety courses are included in the fee. 

Must register by November 28th.

YASA Certification V6: Y Aquatic Safety Assistants

This course presents the knowledge and skills needed to both help prevent and recognize aquatic risks and to assist a lifeguard in the emergency response to an accident and injury. This basic aquatic safety course is highly recommended for fitness instructors and back yard pool owners. Participants will also be certified in American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) courses: CPR BLS, Basic First Aid and Emergency Oxygen Administration upon successful completion of this course. If you would also like to receive Lifeguard Certification after you have received YASA Certification, you will only have to take a portion of the Lifeguard Certification course.

WHO

Ages 14 and older who meet course pre-requisites. Accommodations on the bases of disability are available by contacting Stephanie Settle, 3 days prior to class.

COST

Norman Y Members: $60

All Others: $80

Late Registration fee: $20

*CPR BLS, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration is included in the course and fee.

RECERTIFICATION

Must be current in YASA and attend the first two days of class for recertification.

  • Swimsuit, pen, paper & photo ID

  • Extra towels and warm clothing if you tend to chill quickly
