It's time to take stock of what you can do to improve your health, especially your heart health.
Registration for this challenge is now open. You must register at the Member Information Center to be eligible to compete.
Join this month-long incentive program and let the Y help you achieve and maintain a HEALTHY HEART. This challenge is open to all Y members at any fitness level and any age. You'll receive fitness tips and diet tips to take care of your heart.
The challenge starts February 1 and runs until February 28. Pick up your HHM checklist at the Member Information Center at registration. Turn your completed checklist into the Member Information Center by February 28 to receive your FREE Healthy Heart Month shirt!
Norman Y Members: $15
All Others: $20
First and foremost, if you want your heart to be strong, it's imperative you get the right amount of exercise.
Walking, jogging, bicycling or cross-country skiing
are all great ways to strengthen your heart. Aim for
at least 30 minutes of these activities, four times
per week. But be sure to talk to your doctor
before starting a new exercise program.
Don’t forget how important your diet is in maintaining a healthy heart. Fruits and vegetables are key — these are great sources of fiber. Most of us just don’t get enough fiber in our diets.
