From James Naismith's invention of basketball at the Y in 1891 to today, the Y has a rich tradition in sports played around the globe. We nurture the potential of youth through sports programming by strengthening character, engaging families and building lasting relationships. We are pleased to partner with the Oklahoma City Thunder to further our mission within our youth basketball league, now called the YMCA Thunder Basketball League.

The Developmental League is the standard YMCA League. It will have an emphasis on the development and understanding of the game of basketball. Officials will be more lenient and assist in helping the child learn. The season consists of eight games. The Developmental League is open to children ages 4-10. Practices will take place here at the Cleveland County Family YMCA. Practices will be one night during the week. Games will be played on Saturday.
Age Cut Off
YMCA sports leagues are divided by the age of the participants. A valid birth certificate may be required for tournament play. The age cut off is how old the child was on August 31, 2018. (i.e. if they are 10 on 8/31/2018, then they can play. If they are older than that they can’t. )
The YMCA uses volunteer coaches to provide leadership to the community through structured athletic activities. If you are interested in coaching, please contact Justin Noel for more information.
