2024 Class Dates

This 27-hour course is designed to provide the necessary tools and knowledge to instruct the Lifeguard Certification & YASA courses. You will also learn to instruct CPR/BLS, First Aid and Oxygen Administration. For ages 18+.


$300 per person. Includes YMCA Lifeguard Instructor Guide, CPR/BLS, First Aid and Oxygen Administration. No refunds will be given after attending the first day of class.

*A $20 Orientation Training fee and $20 Adult Learning Concepts fee will be collected online during prerequisites. See below for more information.


Course Pre-Requisites

  • Minimum age of 18 by the last day of the scheduled course

  • All candidates must show proof; “a letter” from a sponsoring YMCA to take the course. Send the letter to 5 days in advance.

  • Complete the Online Orientation Training on Cost $20 (non-refundable)

  • Complete the Adult Learning Concepts Online Training on Cost $20 (non-refundable)

  • Hold Current YMCA Lifeguard Certification

  • Hold Current CPR Pro, First Aid and Emergency Oxygen Certification

  • Complete the Physical Competency Requirements and rescue skills

  • Complete the Y Lifeguard eLearning courses found on


What to Bring

Bring a bathing suit, towel, resuscitation mask, mask snorkel, proof of age and proof of pre-requisite certifications.

*Instructor crossover candidates need to complete the ASHI CPR BLS, Basic First Aid and Emergency Oxygen Administration. These courses will be sent upon registering & paying for the course and eLearning courses. Courses can be found on the YMCA exchange website - you must go to “My Account” and login. Orientation Training & Adult Learning Concept courses cost $20, paid directly to Y-USA.
